Chroy Changvar plot, open for bids

Phnom Penh: According to a recent report from the Phnom Penh Post, the government has undertaken a private design competition to select a new development project to be situated on a 14-hectare plot on Chroy Changvar peninsula alongside the Sokha Hotel. chroychangvar The plot of land set for development is a prime location, facing the main city riverside on Chroy Changvar. Although owned by Sokha Hotel, the group's own development design plans were not granted approval from the necessary ministries and have since been rejected.  13 different development companies have bid the Government for the rights to the project, but now the group has been reduced to five: including international developers from Malaysia, Korea and Singapore, as well as two local Khmer firms. The committee is set to resume on January 25 in order to narrow the current list down to three candidates. Supposedly, an official announcement of the project winner will come by mid-February this year. footernews
